Objectives:

1. 帮助孩子们对中文以及中华文化有更深刻的认知。

2. 通过学习暨南大学中文五册的教材， 小朋友们能够会读，写，说每一章的生字和生词，同时熟练阅读课文。

3. 最重要的，希望小朋友们能够享受和喜欢学习中文与中华文化的过程，并把这份热情延续下去。

作业会在课后发布在家长群里，读写练习在中文学习中尤其重要，希望家长们可以协助监督小朋友们完成。

大家好，我是孙玥，可以叫我Cici。目前就读于Texas A&M University ，是一名大一新生。因个人经历，我在美国上的高中，在拥有自己母语的同时，还要用英文学习，所以我深知掌握双语的重要性以及学习过程中的不易，如果小朋友们能在幼年产生对中文的兴趣以及对中华文化的认知这将为他们今后的学习打好夯实的基础。我有一名妹妹，在她小时候我很愿意去教她一些英语数学等小知识，所以我明白如何与小朋友相处，也熟悉与他们的沟通方式。希望在日后的学习中，可以和小朋友们成为朋友，也可以帮助他们学到更多的中文知识。

Goal: 以学生为中心，鼓励学生积极参与和讨论以巩固字，词，句的熟练掌握与运用。要求学生生字会读会拼会写，提高听说读写的能力，培养积极乐观与人交谈的自信。

Objectives: 

1. 熟悉课文，了解课文大意及其内在道理，并在生活中有所表现。
2. 区分形似音近汉字，熟练的组词造句；
3. 练习并使用拼音，学会自己阅读培养独立思考的能力；
4. 可以写简单的作文/日记。

​具体安排：

1. 暨南中文第六册课后阅读和写作穿插进行（适当增加课外内容）。
2. 随堂小练习，新内容教学，总结讨论和复习巩固。
3. 增设期中和期末考试。

教育专业毕业，2019成为塔木中文学校的中文老师。我们中文六的教学目标是在认字量达到一定程度，培养语感，侧重于理解能力的加强和实际生活的运用。希望小朋友们可以快乐地学习自信地表达。

I have a bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature. I also have an advanced certificate for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, issued by the education ministry of China. I taught a group of kids in the past, and I currently still teach my own kids Chinese. I have been teaching Chinese to Non-native Speakers since SEP 2019.                         

  I know learning Chinese is very difficult for students who are from different languages and cultures. However, I believe all they need is time, suitable textbooks, and a good teacher!

CHI-E401 is designed for students who have learned kuaile hanyu book 3 or Maliping Chinese book 1 . This class will help students build foundations of the Chinese language and form a solid foundation for the learner’s further study

       相较于马立平中文一年级，二年级的阅读量和识字难度明显加大。学习内容增加，课文和阅读材料以更多的文章形式出现，篇幅也在增长；新增加了语法点。汉字的书写和偏旁部首继续加强。

       秋季学期共15周，我们将完成二年级第一单元的内容。其中有8周用于讲授新课，一周期中测试，一周总复习，一周期末考试，其余几周时间集中训练学生的听力和讲中文的能力。期中测试和期末考试分为口试和笔试两部分。为鼓励学生积极参与，加深巩固所学内容，一些课堂会采用角色扮演、演讲等多种形式。

大家好，我是小高老师，欢迎大家选择我的中文课！本人毕业于华东师范大学，在TAMU中文学校已上过马立平中文一年级和二年级，工作中会注重对教学和教法的研究，我会本着 “对孩子负责，让家长放心” 的理念，用心上好每一堂课。

学习马立平中文四前两个单元。进行听说读写各个方面的训练。

       欢迎来到马立平中文五年级！

      在完成了马立平中文第一至第四册的学习，集中认识了近1500个常用汉字以后，需要一个集中的消化和巩固时段。马立平五年级为集中阅读的阶段，进行“大运动量”阅读训练。这种阅读形式也和美国学校阅读chapter book同步，通过这种课上课下的“海量”阅读来复习常用字，从而实现温故而知新。 教学重点放在学生通过大量阅读来培养理解能力。
       在这一阶段学生还要学习在电脑上通过拼音输入汉字和查字典，为下一阶段的作文训练作好准备。

马立平中文第六册分三单元，第一单元的课文主要以趣味对话形式为主。介绍海外生活，以日常用语为主体。有一定的趣味性和学生互动性的阅读。第二和第三单元以学习写作为主。 我教课时会让学生们以对话的方式去增强阅读的机会。从而提高学生们的学习兴趣，让学习变得轻松自如。 课文的实用性和趣味性会给学生们增添许多了乐趣，少了平时读书时的无味和不理解。在学习过程中会增加学生们的写作和阅读练习。

通过学习这册书希望学生们也自然而然把日常生活中的语言和方式用中文表达出来。 从而为增强阅读和听说能力做了铺垫。

阅读会增加孩子们的语言运用和表达能力， 多阅读课文和课后读物。并让学生练习互相对话，练习简短的写作。 

每节课会有一个QUIZ,  每学期会有两次综合考试。

课堂教学气氛轻松。在学习中文的同时了解中国文化。

在中文学校有6年的教课经验， 和孩子们有很好的沟通。理解ABC 学习中文的困难和挣扎。尽量培养他们学习中文的乐趣和用不同的方法去激发他们学习中文的兴趣。 和孩子一起成长是我的教育理念。我自己的孩子也同时在我的中文班一起学习中文。希望我们一直把中文学习下去！

Scratch Computer Programming Syllabus

Description

     In this class, students will be working with Scratch, a free online IDE created by the MIT Media Lab. It can be used to create different projects in a wide variety of settings. In this class, we will focus on learning the basics of block coding as well as some more advanced techniques and creating various difficulty projects, mostly games and animations.

Course Materials

     Students are required to have their own computer or tablet that can run scratch, but a computer with a mouse and keyboard is highly recommended. It is preferred that Zoom and scratch are also running on the same device, so that links can be easily sent.

Hello, my name is Irvin Wang and I will be the teacher of the Scratch Class. My goal is to have all they students be able to create and understand the code effectively . This will be my first time teaching a class about Scratch. I'm honored to be here. This will be a good opportunity for the students to get into coding.

Karina Ji (she/her) is a student at A&M Consolidated High School (Class of 2024). She has debated at the national, state, and local level and has had a multitude of successes throughout her debate career, most notably placing third at UIL State in 2022. She hopes to work diligently with her students and nurture the next generation of politicians, lawmakers, and great speakers in the workforce. She is super excited to teach this course!

Greetings! My name is Sayuni Dharmasena and I am the Creative Writing teacher. I have been writing for UIL Ready Writing contests since 3rd grade, and recently won 5A state champion and overall state champion at the UIL academics contest last year. I am a published author, and my writing can be found in several anthologies. I have been lucky enough to intern with several renowned authors, allowing me to win 2nd place in a national writing competition. I am ready to pass on my knowledge to others, and this class is the perfect opportunity to do so. I am so excited to teach your child not only how to write, but also to enjoy the entire process, from an idea to the finished product!

Chess is taught along with a bit of go.  Students of all levels are welcome, especially total beginners. While classes are in zoom, we focus on puzzle solving to improve tactical skills.

Bruce has a passion for teaching Chess and Go. He was a member of the America Go Association.

  Teacher Maggie Lin is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). She received her master’s degree in violin and viola performance from Northern Iowa University with a full scholarship and her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Central China Normal University. She started to play the violin at the age of four, and she has been performing violin for over 28 years in the United States, Canada, China, and Brazil. She is currently a key violinist with the University of Alabama Symphony Orchestras. As a violin and viola teacher, Teacher Maggie Lin has taught violin and viola for over ten years, and she has numerous educational experiences in mentoring students of different ages (from K-12 to adult) and backgrounds. Her previous students have been selected for top-tier positions in the Texas All-Region Orchestra, Capitol Youth Orchestra, Houston Youth Orchestra, and Senior Regional Orchestra of Fairfax County. Some of her previous students have been admitted to Princeton University, Harvard University, Texas A&M University, University of Texas – Austin, and Purdue University.

Number Sense is a UIL contest that makes you do math in your head fast and accurately.

This class will teach students how to do math quicker, faster, and better. It will teach tips and tricks and problem solving techniques.This includes basic addition, subtraction. multiplication, and division. Students will also practice general math strategies. Homework for each class will either be a practice Number sense test or General math test. A number sense test will take 10 minutes, but a General math test will take a little longer, taking 40 minutes. They will need scratch paper, pencils, and an eraser.

Edward Yang is an eighth grader at College Station Middle School. Starting from 2018 he has placed first in two number sense competitions, and first in a general math competition. He has also qualified for Mathcounts state in his seventh grade year. There was a hiatus during his fifth and sixth grade years due to COVID-19. As the class name implies, we will be using Singapore Math(R) Intensive Practice 4A and 4B books. They have ISBNs 978-1-932906-06-6 for 4A and 978-1-932906-07-3 for 4B.

The books contain the following topics: Whole numbers, mutiplication and division of whole numbers, fractions, tables and graphs, angles, perpendicular and parallel lines, area and perimeter.  Also: Decimals, four operations of decimals, measures, symmetry, solid figures, and volume.

I plan to follow the books closely but spend a small percent of class time on challenging problems and problem solving.

Singapore math is credited with helping Singapore be #1 in the world many times in math for 4th and 8th graders. It covers fewer topics more deeply.  It has a psychology-based 3 step process model: concrete, pictorial, abstract. An emphasis on problem solving is included. Singapore math covers topics at a faster pace compared to US schools.

I have always been good at math and majored in mathematics in college.  I was nationally ranked: 17th in America on the MAA exam and 30th on the Putnam exam.  Starting in high school, I have tutored students from pre-K through college. Here at the Chinese school, I have taught the popular Chess class for years. I work hard to improve student's knowledge, skills, confidence and motivation.
